Hot melt butyl sealant HM1000 for insulating glass units (IGU)

HM1000 is a hot melt butyl insulating glass sealant formulated from synthetic polymers and elastomers. It is designed to provide adhesion and sealing performance when applied as an edge seal in insulating glass units (IGU). The material is developed specifically for insulating glass production, offering fast application, rapid cooling and handling strength within a short production cycle. HM1000 is resistant to UV exposure, temperature variations and moisture.

FUNCTION IN IGU SYSTEM

HM1000 is applied as an edge sealing material in insulating glass units, providing a barrier against moisture ingress and gas loss.

• Application temperature: 180 °C – 200 °C
• Thermal conductivity: 0.22 W/mK
• MVTR: approx. 0.04 g/m²·24h
• Argon permeability: approx. 2 × 10⁻³ g/m²·h
• RT overlap shear strength: approx. 3 bar

CHARACTERISTICS

• Appearance: black, glossy and tacky
• Density: approx. 1.15 kg/l
• Raw material base: synthetic resins and butyl rubber
• Packaging: 6.5 kg blocks, 220 kg steel drums
• Shelf life: minimum 2 years (unopened, dry conditions)

APPLICATION CONDITIONS

• Surfaces must be clean and free of dust, oil and contaminants
• Recommended glass cleaning before application
• Optimal ambient temperature above +15 °C

LIMITATIONS

• Not intended for structural glazing applications
• Not suitable for unsupported or frameless IG units
• Low-E coatings must be edge deleted before application
